I want to spend a week in Malaysia. Every year I travel to different Asian countries, and now it’s Malaysia’s turn. In those regions, getting around interesting places by motorbike has always been more convenient. So in Kuala Lumpur, I also plan to rent one. Which rental service would you recommend?

Unfortunately, the roads there are nothing like those in the US. They are much worse, and it’s simply not possible to drive everywhere by car. Riding a motorcycle or scooter is much more convenient for getting around, which is exactly what the locals do. There are plenty of rental places, so you can easily figure out where to rent a motorbike once you’re there.

To be honest, in these local rental shops, the vehicles are sometimes so old that it’s scary to ride them. It seems like they get the bikes back after a rental, don’t even check or inspect them, and immediately rent them out to someone else. I would prefer renting from private owners. They at least take care of their vehicles, and the prices are usually a bit lower. Check out motorbike rental Kuala Lumpur here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/motorcycle-rental/malaysia-kuala-lumpur . This site features listings directly from bike owners.

When I went there on vacation, I found a Facebook page for a local motorbike and scooter rental before my trip. I arranged in advance to rent a bike for specific dates, and they had it ready for me without any problems.
